Integrating a camera and an arm


I’d like to make my own project where based on the inputs of a camera, a robotic arm can perform some action. For example, if it a camera spots a leaf on the floor, it would pick it up and then throw it in a bin. Or if it saw a bunch of marbles that were of different colors, it would sort them based on the color.

I’m confident that this integration was attempted at least once by now. Has anyone heard of an example that I can use? I’d like to know more about this, but don’t have anywhere to start from…
