Questions on education in the robotics industry

Hi guys,

I’m currently a junior in college and I’m hoping I can get a job in robotics or at the very least in embedded systems.

I’m set to graduate in spring 2019 with a BS in Computer Science from a relatively unknown small state school (It has its good sides, just not in engineering). I’m planning on going on to do a robotics masters in grad school if I don’t have a job lined up when I graduate. So my questions are:

  1. What are the well known schools in the Robotics Industry that recruiters trust.I know CMU, VTech and MIT are up there but I wanted to know which state and private schools also have a pull.
  2. What is the most common degree and level of education in robotics? I’ve also contemplated moving straight into a PHD program because I love the field so much and research excites me.
  3. I currently have my sights set on Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). Is this a well known program in industry?
  4. My final question concerns having degrees in other fields like BS CS/ MBA combinations or BS CS/ MS Business Analytics. Does this help at all in industry.

If you have any answers to these please do post them. Thanks.
