I’m planning to apply to a robotics graduate program for fall 2020 or spring 2020 for some schools. I graduated in 2017 with a Mechanical Engineering degree, and I have no prior experiences with robotics. All my undergrad projects were in different areas.
I’m currently working as TA, giving tutorials in Control and dynamics, heat transfer, engineering mechanics and manufacturing processes. I’m not from the US but I have a scholarship to do my masters and phd at an American university, I’m planning to leave here in April to start an English language program and apply to schools while in the states.
I want to know what kind of things I can start doing right now that would help me with my future applications. I’m considering joining a robotics research group at the department of Computer Science at my university , would that be helpful? I’ve joined a couple of online courses in robotics (Upenn,Northwestern) and I’m trying to make the most out of the time I have right now.
The schools I’m considering are: CMU,Georgia tech,Oregon state,Ann Arbor,Utah and WPI.
Would appreciate any advice.
