Teaching a robot to find the most efficient way to move inside a 3D Model?

Hello. Im no robotics man, but i was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of what is needed to be able to upload a 3D model and make the robot figure out the most efficient way to move along the geometry of the model?

Kind of like how a 3D printer figures out how to most efficiently print a model.
