IAM Robotics upgrades Swift mobile picker

CHICAGO — IAM Robotics this week introduced updates to its Swift product at ProMat 2019 here. The Pittsburgh-based company will show a new Swift robot design that includes conveyor integration and a transport robot that works with Swift to exchange full or empty totes. These innovations in autonomous navigation and material selection and handling can solve today’s operational challenges in accelerating e-commerce environments, said IAM Robotics.

For the past three years, IAM Robotics has demonstrated advancements in autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) at ProMat and Modex. This year, IAM is introducing extended capabilities to the Swift solution for the logistics industry in grocery, health and beauty, pharmaceuticals, and consumer-packaged goods. With two new featured robots and conveyor integration, IAM said, its flexible AMRs can ensure seamless e-commerce operations that optimize returns on investment (ROI).

The sleeker Swift redesign includes a smoother lift and is available with a fixed tote or integrated motorized drive roller (MDR) for automatic tote transfer. The adjustable carriage can match the height of a facility’s existing conveyor infrastructure for simpler integration.

The company is also introducing its new transport robot, named Bolt, whose main benefit is to further improve the throughput and ROI of the Swift solution by exchanging totes with Swift, delivering the full tote to the next process in the fulfillment cycle such as packing and shipping. By leveraging Bolt for transport, Swift remains focused on picking.

“With the growing demands in e-commerce, the logistics industry is looking for autonomous robotic solutions that provide flexibility in their operational planning and execution,” stated Joel Reed, CEO of IAM Robotics. “IAM is responding to these operational challenges by providing advanced innovative solutions in autonomous navigation, material selection and handling, and tote transport and transfer.”

Attendees at ProMat can visit Booth S4679 to see demonstrations of IAM’s autonomous mobile e-commerce fulfillment solution and learn how Swift can provide logistics companies a competitive advantage.

About ProMat and IAM Robotics

ProMat 2019 is being held at McCormick Place in Chicago from April 8-11. The annual conference is hosted by MHI, an international trade association that has represented the material handling, logistics, and supply chain industry since 1945.

IAM Robotics makes flexible autonomous robotic material handling solutions for e-commerce order fulfillment and material handling in logistics and manufacturing. IAM’s Swift product suite is designed to provide a complete robotic solution to existing labor shortages, accelerating e-commerce environments, and changing consumer expectations.
