Dear hive mind,
As it says… I have a paper printed greycode of at least 14 bits. Maybe as high as 20. I want an TSOP package IC that can read the greycode on the paper very fast. It should work even if the paper is wrapped around a drum (inside or out), within reason. Flat on a disc is also ok.
I’ve seen some attempts to grab an image from an optical mouse. The read time is 0.5s/image? At 19×19 pixels.
I also looked at a color sensor and a color print. No tests yet.
The goal is a low cost hollow shaft absolute encoder. The only ones I find today are magnetic and ~$200usd each.
So…got any leads, please?
