How to put together simple robotics program with ROS

Hey everyone,

I’ve been moving through the ROS tutorials and it feels really great. Every now and then I’ll come up against some seemingly insurmountable issue and then I’ll need to figure out how to debug and solve it and I generally do! As I get through these I’m thinking about projects and how I can actually employ ROS for my own ends. I’m really curious about potentially making a type of line-following robot of some kind with ROS but my real question is-how does one finally incorporate these various nodes, topics and packages into something…useable? I’m not a robotics engineer and I sort of don’t know (at least right now) how to integrate the teachings from these tutorials. Has anyone done this? What speciific packages should I consider to get started? I’d be curious to hear others’ experiences! Thanks 🙂
