I am passionate about embedded systems, controls and robotics. I want to start a project for a year. I can dedicate 10-15 hours a week after work. I work for a company based on a university in developing an autonomous small research submarine, mostly C++ coding for the navigation system). This is not an academic project! Its a company based on a university with a lots of people, codebase, pretty much a company.
I took two classes in embedded systems: interrupts, I2C, UART, SPI, Wifi, MQTT, RTOS, etc. We made everything from scratch: the write/read functions for GPIO pins, serial protocols, etc. In the end developed an application for a RFID access system.
The goal of the project is to combine knowledge of embedded systems with controls&robotics, so i can set my foot on the door. I have a good experience in robotics because of my job, but not so much about embedded systems. I love robotics, but there is not that many jobs. Since i also love embedded systems, i want to improve my skills.
What do you think could be a more marketable project:
Motor control and a small firmware for a 3D printer;
Autonomous bicyle; (or really just a small car);
Small RC VTOL (more ambitious i guess);
A medical device (ECG, EEG, EMG) to control a robot arm;
If you want you can recommend me some projects.
In short, i want a project to improve skills in embedded systems and showcase my work combined with controls or robotics.
