I started an “Off-Road Sumobot” competition with family to teach some of the kids electronics, mechanics, and computer science. We quickly are running into some challenges getting torque to ground on the packed dirt surface (not quite sand, but not firm rooted dirt).
Before next year, I want to either change the surface or know for sure that there is a configuration that can apply torque effectively (paddle wheels, tracks, ???).
The weight limit is set to 3kg currently.
I’d love to hear any suggestions about which way to go. Is the competition doomed to failure as is, or can the right set of wheels and motors make for good battles?
