Hello, I am in the process of deciding if I should pursue a PhD in social robotics. It’s something I have been dreaming about, but having worked with some similar stuff now I am afraid that it will be too much towards “humanitary side” and less on the technical side. I want to work on the software / brain. Is there anyone that works with social robots that mind sharing what they typically work on?
What is the future of social robotics? Do you think it will be coming in the next 10 years or will it continue to be a novelty for years to come? I am currently in a good career that I would have to give up, but I want to contribute to the state of the art progress of technology. I would be depressed though if after I am done I have to go back into doing the same old programming job.
